Venice Walking Tours: Boat Tours

Boat Tour to Murano and Burano

Description

If you are looking for a unique and memorable experience in Venice, you should not miss this private boat tour to Murano and Burano, two islands famous for their handicrafts and architecture. Your guide will pick you up at your hotel and will accompany you to your private boat. You’ll speed along the Venetian Lagoon and enjoy the stunning views of the city and its surroundings.

Your first destination will be Murano, the island of glass. Murano has a long and rich history of glassmaking, dating back to 1291, when the glass artisans moved their kilns from the old city center to avoid fires. Murano is home to many glassware shops and factories, where you can admire the exquisite craftsmanship and creativity of the local masters. You will visit a museum dedicated to the art of glass, where you can learn about the techniques and styles of glassmaking throughout the centuries. You will also have the opportunity to watch a live glassblowing demonstration and see how a molten blob of glass is transformed into a beautiful object.

As you explore the island on foot, you will also discover the architectural beauty of Murano. You will see the elegant palaces and churches that reflect the Veneto-Byzantine style, some with mosaics and ornamental motifs from the 12th century. You will also catch a glimpse of San Michele, Venice’s 19th-century cemetery, across the water, where many famous people are buried.
Your next stop will be Burano, a miniature Venice with colorful fishermen’s houses. Burano is a charming island that will enchant you with its vibrant atmosphere and cheerful locals. Burano is famous for its lace, once considered the most refined in Europe. You will visit a museum dedicated to the craft of lace, where you can see the delicate and intricate work of the lace makers. You will also have time to browse the local lace shops and buy some souvenirs for yourself or your loved ones.

To complete your tour, you will enjoy an aperitif in a cozy cafe on the canal, where you can relax and admire the picturesque scenery of Burano. You will see the fuchsia pink, deep blue and vibrant yellow houses that contrast with the blue sky and water, creating a stunning effect. You will feel like you are in a fairy tale!
